NEW GUN IDEA
Name: Flare Gun
Ammo Type: Flares
Damage: 0
Reload Time: 2 seconds
Description:
The Flare Gun is a tactical tool designed to distract or mislead Choo Choo Charles. It fires bright flares that can either lead Charles towards specific locations or draw him away from the player. If Charles is too close or actively fighting the player, the flare will have no effect. However, if Charles is far enough away and hasn't spotted the player yet, the flare can cause him to change direction or approach the flare's location, potentially even leading him towards cultists or other hazards on the island.
The Flare Gun is most effective when Charles is in pursuit or patrolling, allowing the player to buy time or create distractions to escape. The player cannot use the flare to confuse Charles if he's already aware of the player's position and engaged in combat.
Mission: "Family Reunion"
Mission Overview:
The Family Reunion mission is a multi-part quest that involves the player helping a reclusive NPC reconnect with their family members across the island. After delivering the messages, the NPC will give the player the Flare Gun as a reward. However, the flares needed to use the gun will be earned after the player provides a safe ride to the NPC’s family.
Quest Structure:
1. The NPC's Request:
The player meets an older NPC, a man who’s been isolated on the island for years, and learns that he used to communicate with his family using flare signals. He’s run out of flares and hasn’t been able to contact them in a long time.
The NPC gives the player messages or tokens to deliver to his family members scattered across the island. He offers the Flare Gun as a reward for completing the task of delivering the messages to his family.
The NPC will give the player several messages or tokens (these could be letters or small personal items) to deliver to his family members.
The player will travel to three separate locations across the island, each corresponding to one of the NPC’s family members.
2. Delivering the Messages:
The player will deliver the messages to the family members at three key locations:
3. The Flare Gun Reward:
After the player has delivered the messages, the NPC thanks them for completing the task and rewards the player with the Flare Gun. The NPC will explain that the Flare Gun used to be a vital tool for keeping in touch with his family, and now it could help the player survive encounters with Choo Choo Charles.
However, the NPC explains that he’s still missing something: he has no flares left to use with the Flare Gun.
4. The Favor – Giving the NPC a Safe Ride:
The NPC tells the player that if they want to use the Flare Gun, they’ll need to help him reach his family to reunite with them. He will only give the player the flares they need if the player escorts him to one of his family members' homes.
The player’s task is to escort the NPC safely to one of his family members' homes. This journey will take them through dangerous areas on the island, where the player will need to protect the NPC from Choo Choo Charles or other dangers along the way (hostile NPCs, wildlife, etc.).
5. Giving the Ride – The Safe Escort:
The player and NPC travel together across dangerous terrain to reach a family member’s home. The player will need to protect the NPC from any threats they encounter during the ride, ensuring they reach the family member safely.
After reaching the family member’s location, the NPC will thank the player and hand over flares as a reward. These flares are necessary for the player to use the Flare Gun.
6. The Final Reward – The Flares:
After completing the safe escort, the NPC will give the player a full set of flares as promised.
With the Flare Gun and flares in hand, the player can now use the gun to distract or lead Charles away in future encounters.
